ANOTHER WAY OF ART | Danii Kessjan | Digital Collages

Ich bin gebürtige Französin und lebe in Deutschland. Da ich schon immer eine starke Vorliebe für die Kunst hatte, wurde ich eine Collage-Künstlerin aus Leidenschaft aber beruflich Übersetzerin. Experimentierfreudige und künstlerische Forscherin zugleich, habe ich einen individuellen künstlerischen Stil entwickelt, der das Medium digitaler Collagen und spezifischer Schichttechniken nutzt.

Die Künstlerin Hannah Höch einmal schrieb: „Ich habe alles ausprobiert und mich nie um künstlerische Handschrift und Stilmerkmale gekümmert“. Ich denke, dass Kunst der Ort vollkommener Freiheit ist und so fühle ich mich auch, wenn ich meine Kunst kreiere.

Mein Werk reflektiert meine Faszination für die menschliche Landschaft – insbesondere die weibliche Figur. Die Darstellung der Frau ist ein Hauptaugenmerk meiner Arbeit, meine Collagen reflektieren das Subjekt oft in einem introspektiven Moment, den menschlichen Geist, festgehalten in einem Moment der Zeit. Meine Subjekte verkörpern eine zeitlose Qualität und sprechen dennoch die alltäglichen Emotionen an, die wir als Menschen durchqueren. Die transienten oder surrealen Welten, die ich erschaffe, erlauben dem Betrachter, seine eigenen inneren Gedanken zu erschaffen.

Ich bin fasziniert, soweit ich mich erinnern kann, über die Subtilität des menschlichen Gesichts und den Emotionen, die man mit einer einfachen Geste vermitteln kann. Innerhalb eines einzigen Augenblicks wartet eine ganze Geschichte darauf, gesehen und durch die Hand ins Bild übersetzt zu werden.

I am a French native living in Germany. Having always had a strong penchant for the arts, I am a collage artist by passion, yet a translator by profession. Experimenter and artistic researcher at the same time, I have developed a unique artistic style utilising the medium of digital collage and specific layering techniques.

The artist Hannah Höch once said: “I tried everything out and never worried about artistic signature and stylistic characteristics”. I think art is the place of perfect freedom and this is the way I feel while creating my art.

My artwork reflects my fascination of the human landscape – especially the female figure. The portrayal of women is a main focus in my work, my collages often reflecting the subject in an introspective moment, the human spirit captured within a moment in time. My subjects embody a timeless quality yet speak to the everyday emotions that we traverse as human beings. The transient or surreal worlds I create allow the viewer to create his or her own inner thoughts.

I have been fascinated as far back as I can remember, with the subtlety of the human face and the emotions that can be conveyed in a simple gesture. Within just the glance of someone’s eyes, there is a whole story waiting to be seen and translated through the hand onto image.
